Edmund Rowan, Esq., has been in practice as an attorney in Virginia for 13 years, and in Berlin for seven.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia (B.A.), the University of Chicago (M.A.) and Humboldt University in Berlin (Magister Legum --Master of Laws).

He has had long experience in international trade in Germany, Japan, China and the United States. Before becoming licensed as an attorney, he was Sales Manager in Europe for a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., and Country Representative in Peking, China, for Swiss Aluminium Ltd.

Mr. Rowan understands the practice of law from the perspective of real-world business. This perspective is helpful in solving problems and disputes, whether company-internal, between the company and third-parties, or between company and government authorities.

As an attorney he was assigned in 2007 and 2008 in New York and Shanghai to the internal-investigation of corruption within a European multinational company. The objective was to bring the practices of the company in conformance with the requirements of the US SEC and the Justice Department.

At various times in his legal career Mr. Rowan has dealt with a wide variety of  cases, ranging from DUI, to divorce, to deportation actions, to taxation issues, and felony criminal defense.

Until 2008 (presently inactive) Mr. Rowan was a long standing Barrister in the Federal American Inn of Court in Washington DC, located in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The Inn of Court is a guild of practicing attorneys whose members -- be they judges, lawyers or law students -- are committed to mutual sharing of their experience and litigation skills.

In addition to English and German, Mr. Rowan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Since October 2008 Mr. Rowan has been a Lecturer in American Law at Humboldt University, Berlin.
